Magnomatics is a high technology spin-out company from the largest electrical machines research group in the UK

Magnomatics was established in 2006 as a spin-out from the University of Sheffield to commercialise ground-breaking research on magnetic transmission systems, high-torque electrical machines and electromechanical actuators and dampers being undertaken by Dr Kais Atallah and Professor David Howe in the Electrical Machines and Drives research group at the University.

Members of Dr Atallah’s original research group form the core of Magnomatics technical team and the Company now sponsors new researchers within the Electrical Machines and Drives research group.

Magnomatics is primarily a clean technology company with a strong focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Together with strategic partners, Magnomatics is now developing:

• High efficiency and ultra compact generators to address the challenging requirements of wind and tidal energy production
• Ultra compact and efficient marine propulsion systems
• Wheel hub motors and continuously variable transmissions that allow flexible system topologies for commercial hybrid and electric vehicles
• Fluid-free low-mass actuators for aircraft flight surfaces
