After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Electronic Engineering, Chris conducted research in ultrasonic instrumentation, before co-founding NDT Solutions Ltd in 1997. As Managing Director, he grew the Company into a world leader in portable scanning systems. In 2001 he merged the Company with Sonatest plc and in 2004 co-founded the joint venture company Atlantis NDE SL. Chris left NDT in 2005 and took a position at the University of Sheffield, where he identified ground-breaking magnetic gearing research and founded Magnomatics in 2006.

Richard specializes in the design, analysis and manufacture of permanent magnet and electromechanical devices. He has over 13 years experience in research and development on a range of industrially led projects in most market sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and medical. He holds an excellent track record in innovation, with a number of granted patents on novel actuators and sensors, and has 40 publications in academic journals and leading conferences. He obtained his first degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield and received a PhD in 1999 for his research on reciprocating air compressor systems.

Following several years as a post-doctoral Research Associate, he was awarded a prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering Research 5-year Fellowship, when his research was concerned primarily with electromagnetic actuators for ICE valve actuation systems. At the end of his fellowship he became a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield in 2005, before joining Magnomatics in 2007. He has been involved in a large number of European and UK Government funded projects and has been grant holder and project manager on many of these. Richard maintains a prominent profile in the magnetics community, which was established during his seven year role in the management of the UK Magnetics Society, including two years as Chairman of the Society.

Stuart Calverley studied at Loughborough University where he obtained a first class degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 2001 for his thesis entitled “Design of a high speed switched reluctance machine for automotive turbogenerator applications”. He has worked on a wide range of projects including electromagnetic valve actuators for compression therapy devices in the healthcare sector and he designed and built the first prototype magnetic gear system prior to the formation of Magnomatics Ltd. Following a fixed term contract as a lecturer in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield, he was awarded an EPSRC/Royal Academy of Engineering Fellow which was centered around multi-physics modelling of highly embedded electrical machines for use in gas turbine applications. Stuart has led the development of the electromechanical design of the Company’s wind turbine generator.

David has over ten years experience in research and development in the field of electrical machines. David joined Magnomatics in 2008 from his post as Programme Manager of the Rolls–Royce UTC in Advanced Electrical Machines and Drives at the University of Sheffield, where he worked mainly in the aerospace and marine sectors, and was recently instrumental in the development and realisation of a prestigious new engine program. He has a first-rate track record in innovation, with approximately twenty publications in academic journals and leading conferences, a number of invited lectures, and a number of international patents granted in areas including heat transfer improvements in electrical machines, novel control strategies for switched reluctance machine power converters, and novel flux switching machine topologies. He has been involved in European and UK government funded projects and has been principal grant holder and manager of a number of industry funded projects. David obtained his first degree in Electrical Engineering from Sheffield and was awarded a PhD in 2003 for his research on high integrity electrical machines for aerospace.

David worked at Celsis International plc from its incorporation to its flotation on the full list of the London Stock Exchange in July 1993, and was responsible for all elements of the company's finances during that period. In August 1993, David co-founded Toad plc (now Toad Group plc) and was then responsible for taking the company from start-up to 4.2 (now Ofex), then AIM and ultimately the full list of the London Stock Exchange. During this time, David led four Class 1 transactions, two Class 2 transactions and a reverse takeover. In the year David left the company, it employed 350 staff, had a turnover of approximately £34 million and pre-tax profits in excess of £3 million per year. He left Toad plc to join Whereonearth Limited, where he obtained extensive exposure to the venture capital market and was responsible for all aspects of the company's venture capital funding. Following this, David joined Codemasters Limited as Chief Financial Officer. David was responsible for all aspects of the company's finances and corporate finance activity. During his first year the company made a profit of £20 million on £75 million of turnover. David left in September 2004 to co-found Fusion IP.

Fusion IP was floated on AIM in February 2005, and David has been CEO since that time. The company has exclusive agreements with The University of Sheffield and Cardiff University by which it owns the right to commercialise any IP generated by those institutions.

An engineer at heart, John served his apprenticeship in the steel industry and progressed to senior positions within Weir Group and Renold Plc, before becoming Vice President of Ingersoll Rand’s pump divisions in Europe.

Latterly, John has gained extensive experience within the service and food sectors, where he has managed businesses for BET and First Group; he is currently Group Managing Director of Enterprise Foods. John holds a BSc Hons (Mech Eng) and MBA degrees.

David is an experienced technology CEO and serial entrepreneur with 25 years of line management experience. After a 10 year career in Oil & Gas with Schlumberger he left and founded the mobile communications software company, Eden Group, and exited with a trade sale to Geoworks Inc. that gave a ten times return for investors. After a brief spell as entrepreneur-in-residence for a Silicon Valley VC firm, he co-founded Neopost Online Inc. , a $100M funded ecommerce start-up, providing online postage, package and shipping services. As CEO, over the course of 18 months, he grew revenues to $24m, the customer base to 17,000 and established shipping counters in 2,500 supermarkets across the USA. After a two year sabbatical sailing across the Atlantic with his family David resettled in the UK and joined wave energy device developer Orecon Ltd as CEO. At Orecon he closed a £12m A round funding with tier one VCs, successfully led the company to become one of the industry leading developers until the world banking crisis left the company unfunded. David is currently consulting for Blue-ng and other companies in the renewable & cleantech sectors.

Dr David Milroy joined Aberdeen Asset Management (AAM) in 2007 and was part of the management buy-out of AAM’s Private Equity division to form Maven Capital Partners in 2009. David is responsible for Maven’s portfolio of technology companies and the White Rose Technology Seedcorn Fund, an early stage seed fund which invests in new technology emerging from the universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. David serves on the Boards of PLM Dollar Helicopters, PrismTech Group, Essential Viewing Systems, Asterion and Pro-Cure Therapeutics. He joined Aberdeen from the unique £150 million innovation fund, ITI where he was responsible for identifying investment opportunities. Prior to that he was principal consultant at leading international energy and healthcare consultancy firm, Wood Mackenzie, where he supported Investment banking teams and advised European and US clients on their corporate and licensing strategies as well as leading DD projects on companies, products and technologies. David started his career as a scientist with GlaxoSmithKline and he holds PhD, MBA and BSc (Hons) degrees from Bath, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Universities, respectively.
