High torque electrical motors and contactless gearing for industrial drives and process control
Magnetic Gears
For many industrial applications the "torque fuse" capability of a magnetic gear is an attractive operational
characteristic allowing downrating of the rest of the transmission, reducing cost and mass of the complete drivetrain and
preventing damage to other components due to faults or load jamming etc.
Non-contact, lubricant-free transmission through a
membrane removes the need for dynamic seals, preventing contamination, which is particularly attractive
for food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
High-precision positioning through a contactless drive can be achieved using Magnomatics high ratio gear
- Improved reliability
- Reduced maintenance
- Physical isolation between shafts
- No dynamic seals
- Inherent overload protection allowing down rating of the rest of the transmission
- Near zero noise transmitted from the drive
Pseudo Direct Drive (PDD®)
Magnomatics PDD® technology offers outstanding reductions in
motor size and weight compared with conventional direct drive motors where a combination of low speed and high torque is
required. Applications such as conveyor belts, mixers, pulverisers, ball mills,
drilling, fluid control valves etc. All require high-torque low speed drives, usually obtained through mechanical gearing
of a high speed motor.
Magnomatics Pseudo Direct Drive technology removes the need for any mechanical gearing resulting in a compact, highly
efficient, highly reliable drive.
