This July, Scarlett Birks, Supply Chain Coordinator at Magnomatics, celebrated her two-year anniversary with the team. Scarlett originally joined us as an Office Administrator and has since progressed into her current role. To mark this milestone, we caught up with her to talk about her role, what she’s learned, and her ambitions.

What has been the most rewarding or memorable moment of the past two years?

There have been so many! The most rewarding moments are when my work is recognised, and the most memorable are the times spent with my colleagues at team-building events.

What skills or knowledge have you gained at Magnomatics that you’re most proud of?

I’ve developed a solid understanding of the supply chain and quality processes here, thanks to the great support system and the amazing people I work with. I’ve also been involved in a variety of teams across the business, including auditing, Health & Safety, 5-S, and more, which has helped keep my creativity flowing. I have grown so much personally and professionally and feel confident that I can contribute to ongoing improvements across the company.

Can you tell us a little about your background and what you were doing before you joined the company?

Before Magnomatics, I worked in retail and hospitality and also taught at a dance school. Moving into the corporate world felt like a giant leap because my skills didn’t seem directly related to my first role as Office Assistant. But I was able to transfer a lot of what I’d learned, like working to objectives and managing multiple tasks quickly and efficiently. Since joining, I’ve grown my skillset even further, and I’m excited to keep expanding on it.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work – any hobbies or interests you’d like to share?

I rehearse twice a week with Cast Productions Yorkshire, where we stage full musical theatre productions. This year’s show was Grease the Musical, which ran at The Dearne Playhouse Theatre earlier this month. It felt amazing to be back on stage after taking a two-year break!

What are you looking forward to in the next stage of your career at Magnomatics?

I’m excited to see how my role continues to develop and how I can keep bringing creativity and new ideas to the business. I’m looking forward to completing more training and watching my knowledge grow as the company grows too.

Has anyone in particular supported or inspired you at work over the past two years?

Absolutely. I’m especially grateful to Lucy Edwards and my manager, Orrin Sweeting-Dixon, for their continuous support, advice, and encouragement – I aspire to have the depth of knowledge they both bring to their roles.

That said, the whole team at Magnomatics has been incredibly helpful and inspiring. I felt welcome right from the start, and thanks to everyone’s support, I have been able to transition smoothly into my roles. The encouragement I get from so many colleagues keeps me motivated every day.
