Sheffield Facility Opened by South Yorkshire Mayor Delivers Ahead of Schedule
High-technology manufacturer, Magnomatics Limited has reached a major milestone with the shipment of the first magnetically geared marine thrusters produced at its new Parkway facility. The achievement marks the launch of commercial production at the site and represents an important step in the company's growth strategy to bring its pioneering magnetic gear technologies to customers at scale.
The facility was officially opened by South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard during a launch event attended by employees, industry partners and key stakeholders. During his visit, the mayor spoke to business leaders, briefly met with Magnomatics' senior management team to discuss the company's growth ambitions and contribution to the region's advanced manufacturing sector, but not before marking the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Mayor Coppard said: “Magnomatics shows exactly what South Yorkshire can do: a company built on our talent, rooted in our communities, and now scaling up to serve customers around the world. Born out of the University of Sheffield and celebrating 20 years of innovation, they’re yet more proof that businesses can grow here, stay here and succeed here.”
Since the opening, the facility has quickly advanced, becoming operational ahead of schedule and rapidly transitioning to scalable production, resulting in the shipment of the first magnetically geared marine thrusters manufactured on site.
The first shipment highlights the success of Magnomatics' investment in strengthening its ability to meet growing market demands, driven by clean energy and electrification.
