Magnomatics Welcomes South Yorkshire Mayor & Business Leaders To Officially Open New Facility
High-technology manufacturer Magnomatics has proudly welcomed Oliver Coppard, Mayor of South Yorkshire; Professor Keith Jackson, Master Cutler; Professor Conchúr Ó Brádaigh, Vice-President and Head of the Faculty of Engineering at The University of Sheffield; plus local councillors and business leaders, to its new Parkway Production Facility. The visit marked the official opening of the site and continued celebrations of the company’s 20th anniversary.
Established back in 2006 as a spin out from The University of Sheffield Electronic and Electrical Engineering department, 20 years later, the company is continuing to go from strength to strength.
During his speech Professor Conchúr Ó Brádaigh said “The partnership the University has with Magnomatics is an outstanding example of what higher education and industry partnerships can achieve. Partnerships like ours broaden perspectives, support our young people into work, foster new avenues of collaboration, and drive real innovation and growth”
Having recently announced the new Parkway Production Facility, the team at Magnomatics have worked tirelessly to bring the site online. The first batch of magnetically geared marine thrusters is expected to leave the facility later this year, marking a significant milestone in the company's continued growth and expansion of its manufacturing capabilities.
Co-Founder & Chief Technical Officer, Stuart Calverley added, “Twenty years ago we founded Magnomatics to help power the electrified future. Since then, we've built a business with global reach, forged pioneering partnerships, and assembled an incredible engineering team capable of taking ideas from concept to production. I'm enormously proud of what we've achieved and even more excited about what comes next.”
The Parkway Production Facility forms a key part of Magnomatics’ strategic growth, allowing the company to complement its research and development consultancy services with scalable manufacturing capabilities.
